[Last Chance] - Episode 7 제7회 第七集

"I'm sorry. There is someone else I am interested in."

Those very words started to sink in for Joonhyuk. It's never something a guy wants to hear. Joonhyuk wasn't sure how to react either. He could either react nonchalantly or completely overreact and pursue a reason for her response. Joonhyuk thought it over and decided to keep his cool.

"Sure, that's okay I guess."

Joonhyuk felt it was best if he walked away now. As he turned away from Siyeon, curiosity got the best of Joonhyuk.

"Who's the one you're interested in?" he asked.

Siyeon paused, unsure if it was appropriate. She looked at Joonhyuk and concluded that since he didn't overreact, he might be fine with her answer.

"Jungmin. I'm interested in Lee Jungmin."

Joonhyuk's spirits fell, completely regretting asking Siyeon who she was interested in. "Why did you even ask her? There was no good to come of it." he thought bitterly to himself.

"Oh I see. Hmm, well good night."

Siyeon smiled weakly as she replied with "Good night." She wasn't naive. Although Siyeon could tell Joonhyuk was feeling sad because of her, she couldn't do anything about it. Siyeon knew that it would be upsetting to tell someone you are not interested in dating them, but Siyeon felt it would be even worse to lead them on. Siyeon decided it would be better to break Joonhyuk's heart now rather than pretend to be interested and break up with him in the future.

Little did Joonhyuk and Siyeon know, Taebyun was passing through the park to go to Cybernet. On his way to the internet cafe, he saw Joonhyuk and Siyeon talking in the park. As Taebyun watched the events unfold, he couldn't help but want to go over and support his best friend. However, Taebyun knew Joonhyuk needed some time alone first.

Several days later, Eunjoo was waiting outside the main gate of Shinra High. She always went to Blue Sky Cafe with Joonhyuk every other Friday. Eunjoo tried calling Joonhyuk. "The person you are calling cannot come to the phone right now. You will be connected to the voicemail. Please leave a message after the beep." Eunjoo sighed and hung up the phone. Joonhyuk did not attend classes again. Eunjoo had called his house phone number earlier in the week. Joonhyuk's mother had answered, informing Eunjoo that Joonhyuk wasn't at school because he didn't feel well.

However, Eunjoo knew why. Taebyun had told Eunjoo about what happened between Joonhyuk and Siyeon at the park. Eunjoo couldn't help but feel worried about Joonhyuk. Jungmin walked through main gate and saw Eunjoo. As he approached her, Jungmin noticed the look of concern on her face.

"Joonhyuk didn't come to class today?"

Eunjoo shook her head. "No. He's not picking up his phone either."

"Hmm. Hey, are you hungry? Want to go get something to eat?"

"It's alright. I'm going to go over and find Joonhyuk. I'll see you later."

Jungmin watched as Eunjoo started to walk towards Joonhyuk's house. He wasn't sure why, but he felt a little disappointed that he couldn't get a chance to spend some time with her. Jungmin shrugged his shoulders, "Oh well. I'll get another chance."

Eunjoo reached Joonhyuk's house and rang the doorbell. At first no one answered. Eunjoo rang the doorbell again, "OPPA!" Just as she was about to ring the doorbell again, the door swung open.

"Oh, Eunjoo-ah, what are you doing here?"

She could see the stress and tiredness on Joonhyuk's face. Nevertheless, her goal was to cheer him up.

"Oppa, let's go out to eat. C'mon, you need to step out of the house."

"Aish. I don't feel like it." Joonhyuk mumbled. "Forget it."

"C'mon! I'll buy this time." Eunjoo grabbed Joonhyuk's hand and pulled him outside the house.

"Okay, okay. Let me go get dressed first."

Joonhyuk and Eunjoo went out to get some ice cream cones. As they strolled through the park eating ice cream, Eunjoo informed Joonhyuk of the recent events at school.

"Oppa, I think Jungmin likes me. Everyday he asks if I'm free to go eat with him after classes." Eunjoo looked over at Joonhyuk. His expression fell. "What's wrong?"

Joonhyuk hestitated to tell Eunjoo. Then he explained everything that happened between him and Siyeon at the park.

"So she's interested in Jungmin. I guess, I just got so upset about it, I couldn't get myself to attend class."

"Hm. I understand. Joonhyuk oppa. It's going to be okay. You don't need her, you're better off without her."

"But--"

"Siyeon clearly doesn't appreciate you for how well you've treated her. You've been really kind to Siyeon and helped her a lot. Had it been another girl, I'm sure she would of liked it very much."

Joonhyuk smiled a little. "I guess you're right, thanks Eunjoo-ah."

Eunjoo spun around and smiled at Joonhyuk. "Besides, it's not like you're alone. You'll still have me!"

"Hey Eunjoo, watch out!"

Eunjoo had been walking backwards and didn't realize she was heading toward the street. A car was speeding down and was just about to hit her. Joonhyuk rushed and pulled Eunjoo safely away from traffic.

As Joonhyuk grabbed Eunjoo, she fell into his arms. Joonhyuk suddenly became very aware that he was holding Eunjoo very close in his arms, in a tight embrace. He started to feel his heart beat faster and faster. Joonhyuk looked down and saw Eunjoo staring back at him.

"What is this feeling?"
